Which Choice:
Orthodontist OR General Dentist to help straighten my teeth?
Often General Dentists offer Clear Aligners and sometimes Braces as Orthodontic treatment.
General Dentists are Great at providing General Dental Care, but they are NOT Specialists in straightening teeth.
General Dentist most often offer CLEAR ALIGNERS…why is that??
It is because the clear aligners are designed and treatment planned by the fabricator; Designed and planned by an aligner company. The Dentist sends off your scan or impression to a fabrication company and then adds that additional fee to your cost.
Please keep in mind….
General Dentists are Generalists / Orthodontists are Specialists.
YES, Every Orthodontist is a DENTIST FIRST...
To become an Orthodontist it is necessary to go back to University After 4 years of Dental School, for further training to obtain a Certificate (2 yrs additional training),
or a Masters Degree (3 yrs additional training) in Orthodontics.
Please hear this…..This DOES NOT mean we are more Expensive
It DOES mean Orthodontists have more EXPERIENCE in Straightening Teeth!
Our Orthodontist:
Dr. Holliday, better known as “Doc Holliday,” attended St. John’s College in Santa Fe. While attending college she fell in love with the Southwest and the Classics. After St. John’s she returned to California to attend University of Southern California, USC Dental School receiving a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree, DDS.
Santa Fe was in her heart, so she returned to Santa Fe and worked as a General Dentist for Presbyterian Medical Services on their Dental Van. The Van traveled all around New Mexico helping improve Dental Care. After a few years, “Doc Holliday,” became aware of the need for more Orthodontic Specialists in the state, so returned to school pursuing a 3 year Masters Specialty Degree in Orthodontics at the University of Connecticut. Immediately upon graduation…..it was back to Santa Fe!
In addition to volunteering as a Dentist in Orphanages in both Ukraine and Costa Rica, her interests are still reading the Classics, (more accurately, reading and then re-reading), also hiking with her two Rescue Puppies:
Miss Minka and Agnes Marie Macgillycuddy
