Types of Braces & Treatment Options:
We appreciate the courage it takes to jump into braces, no need to commit, just come in and check out the options....
Traditional Braces:
Traditional Braces are the most reasonable in terms of cost of all the options.
Over the years they have been redesigned to be smaller and more efficient.
The versatility of traditional braces is excellent and requires minimal compliance only regarding hygiene and sometimes elastics, depending on the occlusion.
Colored O-rings are possible, or less conspicuous grey or white O-rings are another choice.
Champagne Braces:
Champagne Braces design and effectiveness is the same as Traditional Braces,
the only difference is that they are slightly more expensive and have a gold color.
These braces also require O-rings in colors or white or clear.
Clear Aligners:
Clear Aligners seem easy, are less visible and available at Zia Orthodontics. Clear aligners are fabricated from a special strong custom plastic. Patient compliance is very important with Clear Aligners, seems obvious, but if you don’t wear them then there will be no progress. Patients are required to wear the clear aligner trays 24/7 except when eating or brushing. An evaluation of the best option, clear aligner or traditional braces, will be given during your Free Consultation. Some patients insist on Clear Aligners, which is fine, but you need to understand the commitment involved.
Early Treatment Appliance such as Expander and Space Maintainers:
Some patients may require Expansion to address Crossbite and sometimes to alleviate crowding.
Expanders are placed around the first molars and near the top of the palate,
With small, slow incremental opening of the mechanism a young persons upper arch perimeter will increase.
Also, if a young patient with primary dentition prematurely loses a baby tooth, it may be necessary to place a Space Maintainer.
The purpose of of the space maintainer is to hold space, keep space open for the erupting Adult tooth.
If the space is lost and not maintained, it may be difficult to reestablish the necessary space. The problem of lost space is
eliminated by placement of a space maintainer allowing unimpeded eruption of the Adult tooth.
